YOGA IS NOT ABOUT LOOKING GOOD, IT IS ABOUT FEELING GOOD.

A Journey

​

I discovered yoga in 2013 while at home as the mother of a young baby. I love being a mum but sometimes I needed a bit of escapism from the everyday. I started Bikram yoga classes about once a week and I found myself totally addicted.

​

Soon I realised that yoga is not just about flexibility but through it you can build strength, explore the potential of your body and most importantly your mind. The rewards of yoga are far reaching and now I cannot live without it.​

When I practiced regularly I found that the few health issues I suffered from quickly became a thing of the past and I was better a version of myself.

Teaching

In the summer of 2019 I began practicing Vinyasa and realising this was just the beginning for me, I decided to take the leap and study to become a teacher for both adults and kids. I have 200hrs hours of training as a qualified Vinyasa instructor and 40 hours of training teaching yoga and mindfulness to children. 

 

I am passionate about enhancing the development of young bodies and minds and so am currently doing further training to offer yoga and mindfulness practices to children at an advanced level. It is especially rewarding to be able to give kids the tools to calm the mind and help them to deal with life's daily challenges.

For Children

​

There is a growing body of scientific research which demonstrates the mental benefits of a regular yoga and mindfulness practice.  As well as reducing anxiety and stress, it is shown to improve focus, memory, self esteem and productivity. The more I studied the more it struck me that these fundamental life skills would be invaluable if taught to children from a young age.

​

I would love to see more yoga taught within schools, as so much focus is on what children learn but so little on how they learn. The skills learned through a regular practice help to address this and help improve academic performance and classroom behaviour.  

Katy is the most wonderful yoga teacher. She is knowledgeable with injuries, very patient and makes it fun. Each week I find myself getting better and this is down to Katy’s knowledge and patience. I really look forward to her classes and especially how they make me feel after.
